Job Summary

Responsible for complying with the company's standards in all programs of the News Department, at all levels of production, content, and operations, being the link between all components of the News Department. You must possess the ability to communicate with proper grammar, written and verbally in Spanish. The Executive Producer will have extensive knowledge of news related content in Puerto Rico.


What you will do:

The primary duties of Executive News Producer are to fully execute the following tasks in accordance with the policies, guidelines, and procedures of the Company:

·         Supervise the production team in its execution, schedules, and shifts.

·         Discuss the daily assignments together with the Assignment Desk/Information Assignment Desk, and the employees of that section, for  the editorial line stipulated by the News Director.

·         Observe the assignments of the Table Manager and the Information Table that the expectations outlined are me.

·         In the absence of producers, run special programs and/or on air, if necessary.

·         Be the link between Televicentro de P.R. with the external news services contracted as a source of information or video.

·         Ensure that stories and editorials contain the correct news and television elements.

·         Supervise the writing of all editions and programs of the News Department.

·         Approve stories before airing, if necessary, if required by the News Director.

·         Be a liaison with the Engineering Department for news coverage, together with the Production Manager.

·         Plan, develop and carry out the logistics for coverage plans for specials, news in progress, extraordinary events, and elections among others.

·         Assist in the area of cameras in the assignment of these, if necessary.

·         Monitor newspapers and news from competition for newscast innovation.

·         Assist in the tasks of the Administrative Supervisor when absent or present if assistance is required.

·         Substitute, if required by the company or by the News Director, the Director of News during an absence in which they cannot effectively perform their duties.

·         Any other task and/or responsibility required by the News VP for the operation of the Department.

Required Qualifications

Requirements to be Successful:

·         Bachelor of Science in Communications, Journalism, News Production or related field.

·         Minimum of eight plus (8+) years in news broadcasting.

·         Experience and extensive knowledge in television techniques such as signals, cameramen, and editing.

·         Experience supervising administrative and/or union staff.

·         Skills and abilities to meet all the needs of a News Department.

·         Advanced knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

·         Ability to work under pressure.

·         Care in the attention to detail.

·         Excellent written, oral, and interpretive communication skills in Spanish and English.

·         Ability to effectively handle several activities simultaneously.

·         Problem-solving skills.

·         Skilled in managing confidential information.

·         Ability to work in a team and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
